This reflects the traditional story in which the Jade Emperor challenged the twelve zodiac animals to a race across a river to determine the order in which they would be included in the calendar. Featuring the snake, this coin represents the sixth release in the successful Lunar RAM series. According to the Chinese theory of the five elements, each zodiac sign is associated with a specific element depending on the year. Specifically, 2025 is the Year of the Wood Snake, and people born in this year are considered creative and artistic. They are also often described as talented, adaptable and wise.

The Design of the Silver Coin

The reverse of the coin features an intricately designed snake elegantly coiled around a bamboo stem. It also displays the Chinese character for snake, the inscription "YEAR OF THE SNAKE", the weight "1 Kg" and the fineness ".999 Ag". The obverse features the effigy of King Charles III, designed by Daniel Thorne, surrounded by the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac. The current zodiac sign is positioned at 12 o'clock above the portrait. The portrait is framed by the inscriptions "CHARLES III", "AUSTRALIA 2025" and "30 DOLLARS".
