This gold coin from the renowned Austrian Mint is the first in the "Austria’s Unsung Heroines" series. The first of the five collector coins depicts the artist Tina Blau, an outstanding open-air painter who lived from 1845 to 1916. Tina Blau was an outstanding Austrian artist whose thirst for freedom took her all over Europe. With her courageous personality, she was not only a role model for many other young female painters, she also encouraged them as a teacher and co-founder of an art school especially for women and girls.
The 50 euro coin series "Austria’s Unsung Heroines" is dedicated to special Austrian women. The coin has a weight of ¼ ounce of gold (Ag 986). The coin is available in proof quality (PF) and has a smooth edge.
The design of the coin
The motif side takes landscape painting as its theme. Two portraits of women are framed by trees and flowers. The foreground shows a section of a picture frame, a paintbrush and the silhouette of a mixed palette.
The obverse shows the artist Tina Blau in a three-quarter view, inspired by a photograph from her youth. A brushstroke is indicated on the right edge of the coin. The country of issue “REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH” is engraved on the left edge, while the year of issue “2023” and the face value “50 EURO” can be seen at the bottom of the coin.
