The 2026 Gold Dragon is the eighth release in the popular Chinese Myths & Legends coin series. In Chinese culture, the dragon is revered as a divine creature and a powerful symbol of authority, strength, wealth and good fortune. In traditional art, the legendary mythical creature is often depicted pursuing a flaming pearl, which serves as a metaphor for wisdom and enlightenment.

Proof quality is particularly sought after by collectors and is one of the most elaborate coin production techniques. With a worldwide mintage of just 188 coins, this gold coin is strictly limited and is presented in an elegant coin case together with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

The coin design

The dominant centre of the reverse depicts a majestic Chinese dragon winding powerfully and dynamically across the surface of the coin. Its intricately detailed body is surrounded by stylised flames and sweeping decorative elements, adding further depth and vitality to the design. The year of issue “2026” and the specifications “1 oz 9999 GOLD” appear along the lower edge of the coin. The Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark can also be seen on the left. The obverse features the portrait of King Charles III. The inscriptions “CHARLES III” and “AUSTRALIA” appear above the portrait, while the denomination “100 DOLLARS” is shown below.
