In addition to the popular bullion edition by the Perth Mint, the Gold Dragon Rectangle is once again being released as an exclusive Proof (PP) edition – a revival of the limited series previously minted only in 2018 and 2019. The Proof (PP) finish is particularly sought after by collectors and represents one of the most elaborate minting techniques in coin production.

This exceptional series draws on the fascinating symbolism of the dragon, a mythical creature revered for centuries across numerous cultures. Dragons are legendary reptilian beings of fearsome appearance that appear in many ancient civilizations. The existence of dragons remains a popular concept, and they continue to play a prominent role in contemporary imagination. In both Eastern and Western traditions, dragons are often depicted as guardians of gold and other treasures.

The Coin Design

The obverse features an impressive, stylized dragon. At its center is a powerfully rendered dragon’s head with a flame-like forehead pattern, striking eyes, pronounced horns, and flowing whiskers. The dragon’s long, serpentine body winds across the entire surface, with finely detailed scales emphasizing its movement and strength. In the lower right corner, the year of issue “2025” is shown, while above it on the right edge appears the Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark. The reverse of the coin depicts the portrait of King Charles III. Above the portrait are the inscriptions “CHARLES III” and the country of origin “AUSTRALIA”. Below the portrait, the denomination “100 DOLLARS”, the weight “1 oz”, and the fineness “9999 Au” are displayed.
