The design of the gold coin

The motif side of the coin shows a koala sitting in a eucalyptus tree and holding a leafy branch in its mouth. Surrounded by native flora, the motif impressively captures the calm and natural character of this special animal. The design is complemented by the inscription “KOALA”, the Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark, as well as details of the weight, fineness and year of issue: “2026 1/2oz 9999 GOLD”.

The obverse of the coin features the portrait of King Charles III. Around the portrait are the inscriptions “CHARLES III” and the country of issue, “AUSTRALIA”. The denomination “50 DOLLARS” is also shown below the portrait.
