Since 1990, the Australian Kookaburra coin has been issued annually with changing designs. Worldwide, the coin is known as the Australian Kookaburra and is named after the largest kingfisher in the world. The annually changing motifs make the Kookaburra highly sought after as an investment and collector's coin. Kookaburras are large birds, up to 48 cm long, mostly brown-gray and whitish in color, native to Australia, Tasmania, and New Guinea. The calls of the Kookaburra resemble loud and hysterical laughter, which is why the bird is often also called the Laughing Jack.

After the Kookaburra first appeared in 2020 in gold denominations of 5 oz and 2 oz in Proof quality, the coin has also been available since 2021 as a 1/4 oz gold coin in this high-quality minting standard. On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Kookaburra, the series is now complemented by an exclusive 1 oz special edition. The Proof (PP) finish is especially popular with collectors and counts among the most elaborate minting processes for coins. Design of the Gold Coin

The coin's obverse features a magnificent Kookaburra perched on a branch, surrounded by radiant lines in the background symbolizing a sunrise. The motif is bordered by the inscriptions ""KOOKABURRA 35th ANNIVERSARY"", the Perth Mint's ""P"" mint mark, as well as the weight, purity, and issue year ""2025"". A mint mark pays tribute to the original design of the Australian Kookaburra coin. The reverse side shows a portrait of King Charles III. Around the portrait are the inscriptions ""CHARLES III"" and the country of origin ""AUSTRALIA"". Below the portrait, the denomination ""100 DOLLARS"" is also displayed.
