The Australian Kookaburra coin has been issued annually with changing designs since 1990. The coin is known as the “Australian Kookaburra” in trade and collector circles worldwide and is named after the world's largest kingfisher. In 2020, to mark the 30th anniversary of the Kookaburra bullion coin, the Perth Mint dedicated an exceptional gold coin to the Kookaburra in the minting quality “proof” and a particularly high relief. The proof quality (PF) is particularly sought after by collectors and is one of the most elaborate production processes for a coin. This year, we are once again delighted to be able to offer you the 2024 issue of the Kookaburra coin series. Another special feature of this coin is the minting in 2 oz fine gold, which was first released in 2020 to celebrate the 30th anniversary.
This coveted coin is strictly limited with a worldwide mintage of only 125 pieces and comes in a fine wooden box including a certificate of authenticity.
The design of the gold coin
The design side of the coin shows a kookaburra in flight over a gorge with a snake in its claws. The motif is framed by the lettering “KOOKABURRA” and the year of minting “2024”. In addition to the mintmark “P125”, which stands for the 125th anniversary of the Perth Mint, the design side also contains the coin's weight and fineness. The value side of the coin shows the portrait of King Charles III. Around the portrait is the inscription “CHARLES III” and the country of origin “AUSTRALIA”. The face value “200 DOLLARS” is also shown below the portrait.
