Information about Gold Royal Tudor Beasts 1/4 oz Proof - Completer Coin

The Royal Mint commemorates the ten heraldic beasts that line the moat bridge at Hampton Court Palace with its Royal Tudor Beasts coin series. The beasts were created at the request of Henry VIII and symbolise the royal lineage as well as the union between Henry VIII and his third wife, Jane Seymour. The successful series concludes with the 2027 Completer Coin: for the first time, all ten Royal Tudor Beasts are depicted together on a single coin. The ten designs featured throughout the series are The Seymour Panther, The Lion of England, The Yale of Beaufort, The Bull of Clarence, The Tudor Dragon, The Greyhound of Richmond, The Royal Dragon, The Seymour Unicorn, The Queen's Panther and The Queen’s Lion. The Completer Coin brings these significant heraldic symbols together in one final design, creating a fitting conclusion to the Royal Tudor Beasts series.

The exclusive gold coin is struck from 999.9 fine gold, weighs 1/4 oz and is issued in Proof quality. The worldwide mintage is limited to just 350 pieces.

The design of the gold coin

The reverse was designed by artist David Lawrence and brings together all ten Royal Tudor Beasts on a single coin. The heraldic beasts are arranged in a circular formation, once again representing all motifs featured throughout the series. Tudor symbolism forms the centrepiece of the design, highlighting the connection to the history of the House of Tudor and Hampton Court Palace. The obverse of the coin features the portrait of King Charles III. Surrounding the portrait is the inscription "CHARLES III D G REX F D". The face value "25 POUNDS" and the initials “MJ” of British sculptor Martin Jennings, who designed the portrait of King Charles III, are also featured.
