The design of the gold coin

The artist David Lawrence designed the motif side of the coin. It depicts the lion standing upright with its mouth open. In its paws, it holds a shield featuring Jane Seymour’s royal badge. This heraldic creature symbolizes the queen’s royal authority and lineage. The motif is surrounded by the inscription “QUEEN’S LION” and the issue year “2026”. The obverse of the coin features the portrait of King Charles III, surrounded by the inscription “CHARLES III D G REX F D”. The coin also shows the face value “200 POUNDS” and the initials “MJ” of British sculptor Martin Jennings, whose portrait of King Charles adorns the obverse.
