The Triple Maple gold coin returns in 2026 with a particularly striking and contrasting appearance. Its artistic design features three intricately detailed maple leaves, whose warm golden tones stand out impressively against the dark black rhodium surface. The rhodium plating creates a matte black background that highlights the fine leaf veins and the varied textures of the motif.

The design was created by Stan Witten, an experienced engraver at the Royal Canadian Mint. He first photographed and sketched the maple leaf arrangement before transforming it into a sculpted coin design. Struck from 1 oz of 99.99% pure gold, the coin combines classic Canadian symbolism with a modern and exceptional surface finish. It is the second release in the Triple Maple coin series and the first to feature black rhodium plating. The coin is produced in the premium Matte Proof finish and is presented in a black lacquered wooden case with a black beauty box and a certificate of authenticity. The worldwide mintage is limited to just 550 coins.

The Design of the Gold Coin

The reverse features an artistic arrangement of three maple leaves. The finely sculpted details and intricate depiction of the leaf veins give the motif a particularly vivid appearance. The golden maple leaves stand out clearly against the matte black rhodium surface, creating a striking contrast between light and dark. The design is surrounded by the inscriptions “CANADA”, “FINE GOLD 1 OZ OR PUR” and the purity mark “9999”. The obverse features the portrait of King Charles III created by Canadian artist Steven Rosati. The design is completed by the face value “200 DOLLARS”, the year of issue “2026” and the inscription “CHARLES III D·G·REX”.
