The Silver Easter Coin "Dürer’s Trio of Hares" 5 EUR Special Uncirculated AUT – 2026 issued by the Austrian Mint combines the spirit of spring, Easter tradition and great art history. Few motifs are as closely associated with Easter as the hare – a symbol of new life, vitality and nature awakening. In this edition, however, the animals are presented not only as messengers of spring, but also as an art-historical tribute to one of the most important artists of the Renaissance: Albrecht Dürer.

The coin motif is based on a detail from the woodcut “The Holy Family with the Three Hares”, which was created around 1497. The original is now held in the renowned Albertina art collection in Vienna.

Special Uncirculated, known as Handgehoben or HGH in Austria, is an Austrian quality standard for collector coins. After minting, the coins are handled with particular care and individually packaged to prevent scratches or damage. The Design of the Silver Coin

At the centre of the motif side is the famous trio of hares based on a work by Albrecht Dürer. The three animals are surrounded by grasses and floral elements, creating the impression of a natural spring landscape. The motif also features the artist’s well-known monogram – the stylised “AD” used by Dürer to sign his works.

As is customary for Austrian 5-euro coins, the value side of the nine-sided coin features the coats of arms of Austria’s nine federal states arranged in a circle. The design is completed by the issuing country “REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH” and the face value “5 EURO” at the centre of the coin.
