Design of the silver coin
The artist David Lawrence designed the motif side of the coin. It shows the panther in its traditional representation: flames flicker from its mouth and ears and symbolize its fragrant, supposedly beguiling breath. In contrast to the Seymour panther, which bears a shield with the Seymour wings, the Queen's Panther holds the royal coat of arms. The motif is framed by the words “QUEEN'S PANTHER” and the year of issue “2025”. The value side of the coin shows the portrait of King Charles III. Around the portrait is the inscription “CHARLES III D G REX F D”. There is also the face value “2 POUNDS” and the initials “MJ” of the British sculptor Martin Jennings, whose portrait of King Charles adorns the value side.
