The Royal Mint commemorates the ten heraldic beasts lining the moat bridge at Hampton Court Palace with its Royal Tudor Beasts coin series. The beasts were created at the behest of Henry VIII and symbolise the royal lineage as well as the connection between Henry VIII and his third wife, Jane Seymour. The Completer Coin 2027 marks the conclusion of this successful series: for the first time, all ten Royal Tudor Beasts are depicted together on a single coin. The ten motifs featured throughout the series are The Seymour Panther, The Lion of England, The Yale of Beaufort, The Bull of Clarence, The Tudor Dragon, The Greyhound of Richmond, The Royal Dragon, The Seymour Unicorn, The Queen's Panther and The Queen’s Lion. The Completer Coin brings these significant heraldic symbols together in one final design, creating a distinctive conclusion to the Royal Tudor Beasts series.

The coin is struck from 999 fine silver, weighs 31.21 g and is issued in the premium Proof quality. Due to its elaborate production process, Proof is one of the most highly regarded minting qualities among collectors. The limited mintage of the 1 oz silver coin is 6,000 pieces worldwide. 

Design of the Silver Coin

The reverse was once again designed by artist David Lawrence and brings together all ten Royal Tudor Beasts on a single coin. The heraldic beasts are arranged in a circular formation around a centrally positioned Tudor Rose. The design is complemented by decorative elements inspired by the architecture and ornamentation of the Tudor period. In this way, the final coin revisits all motifs from the series and unites them in one cohesive composition. The obverse features the portrait of King Charles III designed by Martin Jennings. The coin has a face value of 2 Pounds. Another distinctive feature is the incuse edge inscription “HAMPTON COURT PALACE • ROYAL TUDOR BEASTS”, which further emphasises the series’ connection to the historic heraldic beasts of Hampton Court Palace.
