The Design of the Gold Coin

The obverse of the coin captures the essence of these gentle creatures. In 2025, the design depicts a day in the life of a koala—high up in the tranquil refuge of the eucalyptus canopy. The design is surrounded by the inscription “KOALA” as well as the year of issue and fineness of the coin: “2025 1oz 9999 GOLD.” The Perth Mint’s mint mark “P” is also displayed.

The reverse of the coin features a portrait of King Charles III. Around the portrait are the inscriptions “CHARLES III” and the country of origin “AUSTRALIA.” Below the portrait, the face value “100 DOLLARS” is also shown.
