The horse is the seventh sign of the twelve-year lunar calendar. This reflects the traditional story in which the Jade Emperor had the twelve zodiac animals compete in a race across a river to determine the order in which they would be entered into the calendar. Despite a short setback caused by the snake, the horse secured seventh place with indomitable spirit. Those born in the years 2026, 2014, 2002, 1990, 1978, and every 12th previous year under the sign of the Chinese horse are considered independent, charismatic, and adventurous. Passionate and temperamental, they possess a natural aura and the ability to inspire others.

For the silver coin sizes 1 kilo, 5 oz, 2 oz, and 1/2 oz, there is no mintage limit. Up to 300,000 pieces of the 1 oz coin will be minted. The coin is delivered in its original capsule.

The Design of the Silver Coin

The reverse side features a depiction of a majestic mare alongside her young foal – both with elegant manes captured in an impressive gallop. The background shows imposing mountain landscapes and the lush tranquility of grasslands. Next to the motif are the Chinese character for horse "馬", the inscription "HORSE 2026", and the Perth Mint’s mintmark "P".

The obverse side of the coin depicts the portrait of King Charles III. Above it are the inscriptions "CHARLES III" and "AUSTRALIA". Below, the weight "1oz", the fineness "9999 Ag", and the face value "1 DOLLAR" are engraved.
