The festive dirndl, stylish lederhosen, elegant loden cloth and elaborately crafted horn buttons represent traditional materials, craftsmanship and Austrian folk costume culture. The fourth and final coin in the series is dedicated to horn – one of the most traditional natural materials, closely associated with traditional clothing, nature and craftsmanship for centuries.

Horn has a long tradition in Austrian folk costume culture. As a natural and regionally available raw material, it has been fashioned into buttons, decorative applications, jewellery and elaborate ornaments for generations. The issue is made of 925 sterling silver and struck in the highest minting quality, Proof. The mintage of this collector coin is limited to 30,000 pieces. The coin is presented in a case with a numbered certificate of authenticity and protective slipcase.

The design of the silver coin

The motif side depicts a man wearing traditional attire, with his clothing accentuated by elaborately designed horn elements. In particular, the buttons on his waistcoat and the details of his traditional coat reflect the centuries-old tradition of horn craftsmanship. A decorative ornament inspired by intricate horn carving runs through the background. At the centre of this ornament is the head of a majestic stag – a symbol of the wildlife of the Alpine region and, at the same time, a typical source of inspiration for traditional costume motifs. Selected areas of the coin are further accentuated by partial colouring.

The value side once again takes up the theme of horn and its traditional craftsmanship. At the centre is a roe deer buck with impressive antlers. Beside it is a graver, a traditional tool used for the artistic working and decoration of horn. The face value “10 EURO”, the year of issue “2026” and the inscription “REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH” are also featured on the coin, completing the design.
