Information about the Silver STAR WARS AT-ST Walker 1 oz PF - 2022
This extraordinary silver coin from the STAR WARS series was minted by the New Zealand Mint. It is the third and final issue in the STAR WARS Vehicles series. The previous issues in the series already featured the Sandscrawler and the AT-AT Walker. The final issue is now dedicated to the AT-ST Walker (all-terrain scout transporter).
The AT-ST may not be as imposing as its bigger brother the AT-AT Walker, but it still served as an important addition to the Imperial side of the battlefield during the Galactic War. The two-man vehicle is lightly armed with “chin” mounted laser cannons and side-mounted weapons. Called the Scout Walker by many, the two-legged transport serves as a reconnaissance and patrol vehicle, often flanking approaching AT-ATs and taking out infantry that sneak past the larger walkers. The Imperials used AT-STs in both the Battle of Hoth and the Battle of Endor.
The polished plate (PF) is particularly sought after by collectors and is one of the most elaborate production processes for a coin. This exclusive silver coin is limited to a worldwide mintage of 2,000. The silver STAR WARS AT-ST Walker 1 oz PF - 2022 is presented in an original black coin case. The outer packaging takes up the typical Star Wars™ design.
The design of the silver coin
The design side shows a detailed image of the AT-ST walker during the Battle of Hoth in STAR WARS: The Empire Strikes Back. The edge of the coin also features the words “1 oz 999 Fine Silver” and the copyright of “Lucasfilm™ Ltd”. The value side shows the famous Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The portrait is framed by the lettering “ELIZABETH II”, the country of issue “NIUE”, the year of issue “2022” and the face value of “TWO DOLLARS”.
